All About Ali

Hello and thanks for dropping by my website.

I’m a Yorkshire-based, feminist crime-fiction writer. I write about two women, Lee and Jo, who have just opened No Stone Unturned – Leeds’ first missing persons’ bureau. Lee’s  driven to mend fractured families because of her own experiences of disappeared family members – her dad went missing the day she was born. Jo is Lee’s best friend. She’s recently turned to political lesbianism, after her last boyfriend proved to be both a disappointment and a cliche.

The first one in the series,  The Disappeared, was published in 2018 by Harper Collins followed by The Runaway in September 2019. I write feminist noir because I love adventures where women get to be at the centre of the action.

You can check out my blog about the highs and lows of reading and writing. I love hearing from readers and writers and am always up for doing events and book groups. Details about forthcoming talks, workshops and the occasional writing retreat can be found on the events page.

If you want to know more about the work I do as an editor and mentor please visit www.retreat-retreat.co.uk

I’d love to hear from you so feel free to leave comments. I occasionally send out a delightfully irregular newsletter, which you can subscribe to – just send me your email address through the contact me form.
